How to spice up canned cranberry sauce
Ingredients
General Ingredients
- 200 grams frozen cranberries (use fresh cranberries if you get them)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
Instructions
- Add frozen cranberries, a cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, and cardamom to a saucepan.
- Add in the Birria seasoning and dried chilies. Deglaze the pan by adding 2 cups of water to the pot. Cover and bring to a boil.
- Add the seared turkey thighs back to the pot. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
- After this, remove the turkey from the pot and set it aside.
- Using an immersion blender, blend the ingredients in the pot until smooth.
- Add 4 cups of water, and season with salt to taste.
- Return the turkey to the pot, cover it, and cook for 10 minutes until tender.
- Remove the turkey from the pot and shred the meat using two forks. Then chop finely with a sharp knife.
- Add some consommé to keep the turkey meat moist.
- Heat the tortillas in a dry pan over medium heat to assemble the tacos.
- Add some shredded Oaxaca cheese to the tortilla, followed by some shredded turkey meat.
- Spoon more consommé over the turkey and top with chopped onion and cilantro.
- Turn the heat off and serve the tacos with additional consommé on the side. Squeeze a bit of lime on top for extra zing!
How to spice up canned cranberry sauce
Ingredients
- 200 grams frozen cranberries (use fresh cranberries if you get them)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 2 cloves
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 orange zest and juice
- 2 tbsp honey (as per your preference)
- 1-2 tbsp brown sugar (as per your preference)
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Add frozen cranberries, a cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, and cardamom to a saucepan.
- Add some orange zest from a fresh orange and then the orange juice.
- Next, add some honey to sweeten.
- Add ¼ cup of water to the saucepan.
- Place the saucepan on the stove and turn on the heat to medium.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Add brown sugar to taste and tackle the tartness of cranberries.
- Continue to simmer until the sauce is thick and jam-like.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and use a spatula or wooden spoon to smoosh the cranberries.
- Let the sauce cool, then remove the cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamom pods.
- Transfer the spiced cranberry sauce to a small bowl, and it's ready to serve! Enjoy your homemade spiced cranberry sauce.
