What is Dalgona coffee? How do you make it? What’s the big deal? Well if I’m being honest I gave the original sugar laden version a try recently and even posted the recipe here on the website. But now it’s time to make a Keto Dalgona coffee and see how it matches up.
Now if you are new to this Dalgona trend let me full you in, So this coffee is apparently trending all over the internet. It supposedly originated in Korea and then migrated to Tik Tok where it achieved viral fame. Or so I’ve been told. There are Indians who will say we’ve been doing this forever, others say this has been the poor man’s cappuccino for a while. Either way it’s time to test our Keto version of this viral coffee.
Twerking that coffee
Well the recipe itself is great. It’s simple and it’s easy. However if you want to make it dairy free you can easily substitute the cream with either coconut milk or almond milk. Either should be fine. If you do love coffee you might want to also try my recipe for Vietnamese Egg Coffee which is quite something as well. Who knew you can make coffee and eggs taste good together right?
As for the macros of this coffee, I’m not posting them because it’s literally just what ‘milk’ component you use and how much of it. I’ve kept mine rather small in terms of quantity because I don’t like a super milky coffee. I prefer something with a strong coffee flavour. But if you going to put this over say 200ml of coconut milk then the macros are really just that 200ml of coconut milk. So scan that barcode and put it in your MFP or app of choice.
Does this work with a brewed coffee?
Nope, it doesn’t. I believe it only works with instant coffee so don’t bother brewing an espresso and trying this. Also when it comes to sweeteners I haven’t tried it with any others but I do believe it’s not going to work quite the same with say stevia but if you’ve tried it and had success, let me know.

Wow do you think this could be made with honey or maple syrup? I know that wouldn’t be keto, but I’m just curious

I feel like it could. However if you are using a sugar of some sort might as well use white sugar as you aren’t going to find any great benefits replacing it with honey or maple syrup in terms of nutrition. If it’s just a matter of what’s available at home then for sure go ahead, I think it will still work to some extent.

Hi is this whipping cream with sugar
Sahil MakhijaAugust 22, 2020 at 4:47 am
Nope. I always buy cream without sugar. You just want to find cream with 30% fat or more. If you can’t find that then even 25% is fine.

Its funny how old stuff is trending like new one 🙂
The first time I tried this coffee was 15 years ago 😳 Frappé coffee invented in Greece mid 50’s 🙂 if you trust Wikipedia
Lovely website, thanks for sharing such useful information, I’m new, no idea how I got here but I like it.

This was so good, I’m totally surprised, I must admit ? I used 50ml of double cream and 50ml of water and a ton of ice cubes and it was delish! A fantastic keto snack/fat bomb. Well done you, yet again! I think this might become a weekly treat ?

I just tried this. I didn’t have high expectations. And by that, I really mean I had really low expectations. This really did deliver, though! I had one, and I am ready for another. It was really good. Very easy to make. Tasted great. I didn’t really measure the cream or water. I think I did about half cream and half water. Yeah….it is well worth a try. I will definitely do it again.

Is soy milk and sucralose keto friendly?

Got to check ingredients and nutritional info on the packets. Both are products I avoid and don’t like.
